The New Jersey Institute for Social Justice (NJISJ), Analyst Institute, and academic researchers sought to encourage civic engagement among formerly incarcerated people whose rights to register and vote were restored in New Jersey in December 2019. The research team worked with the NJISJ Reform Alliance for Civic Engagement (RACE) Council to collect qualitative data to inform the registration effort, interviewing individuals who had formerly been incarcerated.
