Previous research has demonstrated that relational organizing can be a highly effective way of increasing voter turnout, particularly among individuals not listed on the voter file prior to an election. It has also highlighted that, in addition to turnout, base-building is often a goal of relational organizing. More research is needed to better understand the characteristics of people reached by relational organizing programs run by base-building organizations and the characteristics of the organizers engaged in that work.
