
Sharon Sobukwe
Dr. Sharon Sobukwe serves as Director of Research and Policy Analysis for POWER Interfaith and adjunct professor of political science in Eastern University’s Prison Education Program. She retired as Interim Provost and Chief Academic Officer, at Cheyney University, where she had also served as Dean of Faculty. A faculty member for 30 years at Eastern, Rutgers, and Temple Universities, Dr. Sobukwe has taught political science and directed programs in international development and leadership in various graduate international degree programs, directing faculty on four continents. She has served as chairperson of multiple academic departments, directed numerous programs and was founding Director of The Campolo Institute for Social Justice Research, and she has been a frequent dissertation advisor and committee member for doctoral students. Her publications and research address the politics of leadership and international development as well as black women in movements, ministry and liberation struggles in the US and Africa. She has researched and taught around the world from Bangkok Thailand, Manilla Philippines, and Iași Romania to Accra Ghana, Kampala Uganda, Cape Town South Africa, and Kitale Kenya. A former central committee member of the All African People’s Revolutionary Party, she has recently founded Black Radical Christians.
